well first off don't get to mad it won't help you

Second ,You already reformatted and installed correct

Take the win 7 dvd once again but this time choose upgrade instead of clean install

It will do some changes but mind you choose UPGRADE it will re do your windows and allow you to install sp 1 or other updates

Im saying this cause i ran across the same situation you just need to update windows again and it should take

Remember everything doesn't work perfect on the first go sometimes you have to play with it a litte it is time consuming but that is the best option besides Mickey mouseing around with other aspects that might not have anything to do with the upgrades

* If applicable -
You could try a System Restore to PRIOR to your problem commencing.

System Restore

* It would better enable us to help you in a more efficient way if you would give us the update error code which starts with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers.

*Have you checked in Event Viewer ?
Event Viewer - Windows Logs - System & Application.
Check for any red error messages to do with this problem.

Wouldn't harm to do a System File Check.

Go to Start > Run > and type cmd > now type sfc /scannow
Take note of the message at the end.
