New hardware after crash

Hi all,
due to an electrical overload I have to exchange the mainboard, the powersupply and the graphics adapter of my workstation. The CPU chip and all other components remain the same. With the new mainboard, the MAC address will change too. Does anybody know whether the hardware replacement impacts my windows 7 license?

Regards
Mike

Hello Mike, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You will be changing a couple of the main items that the license looks at to see if it's on a different computer or not, so it might. If so, all you will have to do is either activate online as usual again or activate by phone.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Do you have an OEM license or a retail? If you have a retail, you won't have any issues. If it is an OEM, you may end up on the phone explaining that you had to replace the motherboard, and then you'll be activated.

It's a retail, actually an upgrade from Home 64 to Ultimate 64. I bought it officially in Dalles.
