    Problems Uninstalling SP1

I've been having major wireless issues for about 6 weeks now. My computer picks up my home network all the time but doesn't always allow me to connect to it. Sometimes it connects first time and is fine for an hour until it kicks me off. Other times it takes several attempts or adaptor resets to even connect then it kicks me off after five minutes and I have to do the same thing all over again or reboot. After exploring many different options, I've come to the conclusion that the fact that this problem started the evening after I installed SP1 in the morning is a bit more than a coincidence. I therefore want to try and uninstall SP1 to see if this solves my internet woes.

I do have the backup files but my laptop did not come with a Windows recovery disk. Every time I try and uninstall SP1, it stays on the uninstall screen with the green bar filled for about 30-45 minutes before saying 'error - not all upgrades have been uninstalled'. As I have the files I need to uninstall it, I'm very confused as to why this is happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I've been pulling my hair out over this for 6 weeks!

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You may be able to uninstall it using a cmd prompt.

Click Start and type cmd in the Search field.

Right-click cmd in the list and choose Run As Administrator.

Now type wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:976932 at the cmd prompt then press Enter to run the command.

If this doesn't do the trick or you've used Disk Cleanup to remove SP1's backup files, you may have to re-install Windows.

    Thanks =)

I've tried that as well with the same outcome. I have all the backup files and no Windows Install disk as Acer laptops don't seem to come with them so am at a bit of a loss as to what I can do really!

    1) Your computer should have a recovery partition to let you restore your computer to factory settings.

    2) There should be a facility to create a set of recovery discs.

    3) If all else fails, you can buy a set of recovery discs from Acer.

Thanks ever so much! I will run a backup tomorrow, give it a try and hopefully that'll help solve the problem!

OK, do keep us posted as any solutions always help others.

Best of luck, and don't hesitate to ask for more help if you need it.

Just make sure you've backed up any important personal data files first.

After spending a morning backing up my files and wiping my computer, I've found that this didn't solve my internet worries. A few frantic phonecalls later and the general consensus was that the issue lies with my wireless card and not with SP1. I'm sending my laptop off to Acer and not to Comet where it was originally purchased (I know far too many people who have had bad experiences sending their goods off for repair with Comet!) so hopefully that will solve the issue.

However, the Acer restore boot is a good thing to know about as an alternative to creating a system restore disk so thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction!
