First, download and run this tool and either paste the results here or save to notepad and upload the text file.

Well not exactly. Just click on that Copy button at the bottom, open notepad and paste. Save as .txt file and upload the file here or paste the entire content here.

The log looks OK. Go to Control panel- programs and features, in the left pane click on Installed Updates and locate kb971033 in the list. Uninstall it. Reboot, then in the browser address bar type microsoft.com/genuine/validate, let it install etc. After the green whirring circle, it'll tell you whether it thinks your system is genuine or not.

If 1) still finds you non-genuine, you need to contact MS.

Dont worry too much. That phone call is a pretty simple affair, wont take long to sort out. Its regrettable but it happens.

Win7 "workstation" to WinXP "server" file copy FAIL
This is driving me bonkers and I have almost no hair left. I really hope someone can help. When I attempt to copy or move a file or folder from my Win7 box to my WinXP (SP3) media server, the operation nearly always fails. Take, for example, my trying to copy the VLC Media Player folder (704...
