Solved missing volume icon after sp1 install

installed sp1 this afternoon and volume icon is missing from taskbar. Customizing hidden icons doesn't change anything. Also, battery status shows empty although laptop is plugged in. TIA for help

try closing explorer .exe from taskmanager processes and restarting it from taskmanager/ file /new task (run), type explorer.exe in run then Ok ,
and fingers crossed.
to open task manager . ctrl/alt and delete at same time .

Hello marshy12,

Re missing volume icon.
Often a reboot will restore the missing icon.

So embarrassing....simple reboot did the trick. Rebooting is always first thing to try....can't believe Ii neglected to try. Thanks for help/
