Activation: Home Premium key gives SKU error; installed from Ultimate

    Hi all.

Thanks once more to everyone who helped me getting the install working on a clean HDD.

I've reached the point in the set up now where I need to enter my product key.

The key I have is for Home Premium but when I enter this I get an error saying that the key does not match the current Windows SKU.

I did make the assumption that I could use an Ultimate ISO (the only one available) and then the Home Premium key would only unlock the HP features.

Was I wrong in my assumption?

Either way, how can I proceed from here?

    Thanks in advance.

There are several ways but the best would be to unlock all the editions on that iso, then choose and install home premium. Win7 keys are SKU (edition) specific, cannot be interchanged among editions. Go through this, very simple, you just need to download the eicfg removal utility linked in Stage 1 of this tut, then reburn the iso (at the same slow speed, lol), then choose hp in the install.

    Thanks!

I will follow that tutorial now.

And yes, won't forget to burn slowly!
