Constant Updates Everytime Computer Shuts Down

    Hi,

I would like to kindly seek help regarding my problem. Every time I shut down my laptop, there would always be the notice "installing update 1 of 1". This has been happening for a while and I'm wondering what's going on.

In addition, many random files have been created in the Local C drive as shown:

Corrupted Image removed - please re- upload

I don't know if I should just delete them but anyway, I chose not to just in case. Does anyone know what's wrong? Thanks in advance :)

    Regards,
    Jermyn

Can't see the files--"Corrupted Image removed - please re- upload"

As far as updates, that's not uncommon.

    Jermyn,
My mind reading abilities are a tad slow today.
Can we have some more details viz

    * How long is " a while?"
Every time I shut down my laptop, there would always be the notice "installing update 1 of 1". This has been happening for a while and I'm wondering what's going on.

    * Is this a new computer?
    * Tell us about your System specs.
    * What update{s} are you referring to? KB *******?
    * Tell us about your Update Set up.
    * Have you checked in Event Viewer > Application re errors pertaining to this problem?
    * Have you a System Restore spot PRIOR to this happening?

Also include any other relevant info that may enable us to understand your problem better.
    TIA.

    Hi,

Thanks for the prompt replies :) Here's the picture again:

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

    Is this a new computer?
Not really, it's more than a year old.
    * Tell us about your System specs.
It's a HP laptop running on Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P9300 @2.26 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB
    32-bit operating system
    * What update{s} are you referring to? KB *******?
Actually I'm not sure which update it is because a code isn't shown when windows automatically updates the system just before shut down.
    * Tell us about your Update Set up.
By this do you mean how I set the updates to be installed? If so, I guess it's automatic?
    * Have you checked in Event Viewer > Application re errors pertaining to this problem?
I didn't find any errors under that section hmm...
    * Have you a System Restore spot PRIOR to this happening?

    Not that I know of.

I hope I was helpful enough in terms of providing more information :/ Thanks :)

    Regards,
    Jermyn

The folders look like Key Tokens but I can't tell where they are. Are the folders in the root directory of C:?

Are there any files in those folders?

Yea, they are in the root of C. Most of them are empty. :/

And the ones that aren't have what?

What software have you loaded recently?

I suspect they're temporary files and may be removed but just making sure. I'm beginning to feel like a dentist.
