The first link is for a SP1 ISO that you would need to download and burn to a DVD as an ISO file.

Links 2 to 7 are for European languages other than English, so you don't need those.

Your other choice is Link 9: windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe 930 MB; my advice would be to download it, then save it before you install it in case you need to reinstall Windows 7 in the future.

Another way to get this is through Microsoft windows update from your Windows 7 OS.

This is useful if you want to install SP1 only once on your system and then forget it. All you have to do is to go to Windows update on your system and check for updates and keep on downloading the offered updates, install them and repeat this process till microsoft update server offers you the Windows 7 SP1 specific to your system. Accept it and let the system download this SP1 and install it.

Nothing wrong with your suggestion rraod, but people have reported problems with getting SP1 via Windows Updates, and for that reason it can be beneficial to download SP1 as a standalone update.

As ever, it's a matter of choice, but I just felt the point was worth making.

I agree with your viewpoint.... if one finds a problem in updating SP1 through Microsoft update service, then it is better to download a standalone version.. which they can use again later for a reinstall.... In fact I used your method for almost all the service packs since Win NT4.

The only advantage in installing SP1 through windows update for Windows 7 would be a faster update as the required update would be smaller in size compared to a standalone SP1 package downloaded separately from windows website.

You're welcome Matt, and thank you.

Rraod, you are correct in pointing out that the standalone SP1 update is bigger and therefore takes longer to download and install than if it was obtained via Windows Updates.

It's also worth pointing out that SP1 can be slipstreamed into a Windows 7 DVD.
