Latest Win7 update disabled my keyboard/touchpad! Help!

I don't know what the latest update was but it updated when I was shutting down my laptop (Compaq CQ60). I am running Win7 Ultimate x86 and have never had any problems.

I plugged in my USB mouse from my PC and the laptop accepted it and let me use the mouse, but I was still unable to use my keyboard/touchpad

Can anyone help me with this issue? I tried booting in safemode but my keyboard doesnt work so I cant scroll to it.

I also noticed that my laptop did a Checkdisk or something along that lines, I believe thats what its called.

Please any information will be appreciated!

Did some tinkering around. I noticed that the laptop keyboard will only work once I plug in an external keyboard through the USB port which allows me to use each keyboard if I choose.

I updated the keyboard driver already and it didnt fix anything.

I also tried to locate a driver for the touchpad but HP's website did not have anything listed for the Compaq Presario CQ60-410US model.

Should I consider uninstalling the recent update if I can or what? Little stuck and frustrated.

You could try to uninstall that update see if it helps of if you have a system restore point you could restore back to before you installed the update - System Restore.

Never Never Never shut down you computer in the middle of a update. Remove the update and reinstall it. When and if the update says it needs to restart to complete the install allow it to do so. From that point don't do anything and I mean anything until the computer restarts and the little blinking light on your computer stops blinking after restarting. Even when the update tells you it's installed wait for the light to stop blinking.

Oh ya I didn't interrupt it not that I know of so I figure it was just a flaw with the update(s)

I think I uninstalled the updates from October 12th but when I shutdown win7 downloads them all over again.

Ill try it again but ill consider a restore point...not sure if I have one.

Ya like I shutdown and then it goes to what appears to be the startup screen and downloads u and installs updates and tells me not to unplug or turn off the laptop.

Finishes what its doing and then shutsdown as usual

WOW! so i restored back to a system save point on 10/8/2011 and im still having issues!

The touchpad is not working and the keyboard is only working if I connect a external keyboard in first!

Grrrr...im going to shutdown and restore to an even LATER save point. Maybe something at the end of September and see if that fixes my problems.

What do you think I should do if that doesnt work? Maybe i'll just upgrade to Windows8...pfffft hahaha ya right!

    Mouse and Keyboard disabled

    Help!!

I am running Windows 7 (32-Ultimate) on a desktop. The latest update (yesterday) has knocked out all USB functions. Outside of System Setup I can not use M&K in any mode of start-up. I have inserted the Windows DVD on start-up but it can not find a role back file using System Restore.

Is there a way to delete either the Device Manager or the USB drivers from with ProgramData, Program Files or from somewhere with the drive? I have a Laptop with an NexStar external drive case where I can view the main C: drive removed from the desktop.
