What do you mean, you THINK it is ?
Do you have your Windows 7 install dvd ?
30 days is the limit before you have to activate it.

Have you put your Key in to activate the copy of Windows? If not, that could cause the problem you are having. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit - Build 7600 SP1 CPU Intel Core i3-2120 3.30Ghz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 Socket H2 ATX Memory Kingston 4 GB DDR3 1333 mhz Graphics Card Zotac GeForce 9400 GT 512MB Sound Card Sound Blaster Audigy SE 24-Bit Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Sync Master 940 = 19 inch Screen Resolution 1440 X 900 Keyboard Microsoft Natural 4000 Mouse Microsoft Custom Optical 3000 PSU 500 watt Case NZXT Apollo - Silver with Clear Side Panel Cooling Three 120 mm Fans Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB Sata 3 SSD ==

I had gotten a close friend to upgrade it with a Windows 7 Professional CD he bought straight from Microsoft. I do not know if he had entered the CD key or not. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Professional x64 |

If your "friend" had used the key before, it can't be re-used until the first install is not active. even though you had a Vista key, you still need your own Windows 7 Pro key

If he used it to activate his computer, you will have to get your own.

If you don't use a Key that you purchased, not the one your friend is using on his PC, then indeed your version is not genuine just as Windows is saying. At some point it will stop working. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit - Build 7600 SP1 CPU Intel Core i3-2120 3.30Ghz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 Socket H2 ATX Memory Kingston 4 GB DDR3 1333 mhz Graphics Card Zotac GeForce 9400 GT 512MB Sound Card Sound Blaster Audigy SE 24-Bit Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Sync Master 940 = 19 inch Screen Resolution 1440 X 900 Keyboard Microsoft Natural 4000 Mouse Microsoft Custom Optical 3000 PSU 500 watt Case NZXT Apollo - Silver with Clear Side Panel Cooling Three 120 mm Fans Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB Sata 3 SSD ==
