Windows 7 Fails to Activate Using A Retail Version

    Hi everyone,

I recently reinstalled windows back onto my computer using a retail version that I have had since Windows 7 was first released. I have reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer multiple times before, and I believe that with the retail version, I can reinstall windows as many times as I like on my computer. Unfortunately, now it seems to be giving me some problems with activation. I looked through the forums, and it seems that this problem is very specific for each person who has it. I have taken the time to download and use the Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool and have posted the results. Hopefully it's just some conflict that has arrised that can easily be resolved. I appreciate it anyone can help me out on this.

    Hello QuickNinja,

If you have not already, then you might see if doing a phone activation may help. If the automated option doesn't work, then stay on the line for an operator and tell the operator about your activation situation to see if they will activate it for you.

    Activate Windows 7 by Phone

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Yes - there's no specific error in your report that I can see - it's likely that if, as you say, you've re-installed and re-activated a number of tiimes, then you've hit the buffers as far as imternet activation is concerned, and you're likely to have to use telephone activation henceforward.
Note that if normal automated telephone activation fails, the system will probably kick you off before you get to speak to an operator. If that's the case, simply phone back again, but this time do NOT respond at all when the system asks which service you require -this should force an operator to pick up.

If my experience is anything to go by, the automated phone activation should work fine.

All that happens is that a new Installation ID is created that you confirm with the activation database via your telephone touchpad. If the numbers match you'll be given an Activation ID to type in the appropriate boxes.

I'd be inclined to write down the Activation ID and save it for future reference before entering it into the Activation wizard.
