What is validation and how does it work? - Microsoft Windows

If you software is not genuine it will fail Micrsoft's validation checks that take place asfter activation.

How many computers are we talking about here?

Where did you get the software from?

Why don't you have the product keys and Certificate of Authenticity (COA) stickers?

Please be aware that we cannot discuss piracy on these forums as it is against the forum rules.

I take it you are working for an organisation.

Would it be better if you take this up with your IT administrator?

Did the machines have Windows installed with a sysprep image? If so, you should have nothing to worry about.

I suggest that you run the MGADiag tool over a couple of the affected PC's - post the reports for an analysis.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

The Key here is from an MSDN account.
Does the company have a current subscription to MSDN?
(or BizSPark, or TechNet)

I know nothing about it. Back to my concern, will it pass Windows validation process on the field? If not I have to act fast. I'm quite new actually in this field..

Thanks for all help..!

If you have a valid MSDN account, then all may be well - but if not, then the chances are that these machines will be flagged as non-genuine sooner or later.

I see that you managed to validate this machine today - that is a good sign.

Note that machines with MSDN licenses are restricted to Development usages, not production (i.e. normal office) environments.

Are there receipts for the MSDN subscription anywhwere?
Do you have the account login details?
How many machines are we talking about?
Each MSDN Subscription is limited (in theory) to a single user - and each Key to 10 simultaneous installations.
How many different Keys are in use in your environment?

Thanks for picking up on this thread Noel.

I know very little about MSDN practices and licensing conditions, as you may have gathered from my initial response.

This willingness to help out is what makes Windows Seven Forums stand out from all the others.
