There is another post that the problem can be solved using the log file so I have tried using the Readiness Tool and the log is as followed: Quote:

Or through the stand-alone file available for download from Microsoft (windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe), which is 903 MB in size? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;

@JMH: Thanks, I will try to follow those steps carefully.
@ignatzatsonic: I'm updating through the Windows Update and the update package is only ~13 MB. It's really strange that the Service Pack update is only that size | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 |

Not really - it simply means that almost every file required is already installed. The standalone is that large because it contains every conceivable file that may be required by any computer - probably only half of it would be applicable to yours, even if you'd never updated your machine.

I've tried the standalone installer. The problem still persists. I think the problem comes from the OEM version of Dell that removes some window components and make it unable to update. I will try to reinstall a fresh version, also to get rid of the bloatwares in the system. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 |
