    Windows 7 Home lost genuine

Another lost genuine problem. Booted the computer and Windows suddenly isn't genuine. This is a clean install done from Vista Ultimate (done a few months ago). I tried typing the key back in, would not accept it. I tried calling Microsoft but the automated system is so horrible it could not understand my "yes" and "no".

From the Product ID, I suspect that this is an install using an Upgrade disk?? Did you Clean install it?

There's nothing obviously wrong with the report - except that the activation grace period has expired.

Try telephone activation - and make sure that you speak to an operator.
    telephone activation.
    Click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type
    SLUI 4
    and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions - but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you.

It was an upgrade and it was a clean install.
What does activation grace period expired mean? I activated and put in the key the day I did the clean install.

To Clean install an Upgrade, you need to already have a qualifying OS installed - then start the Upgrade from within the OS, and choose the Custom install option there.

If you did that, then the system seems to have lost the activation somehow (perhaps a System Restore back to a time it wasn't activated?).

You need to use telephone activation to sort things out, and speak to the operator.
