Windows 7 64 bit update and SP1

I have tried to install Win7 SP1 64 bit and it gave an error message of: windows update encountered an unknown error code 80246007. I also get the error message after my laptop restarts if the installation shows it supposedly installed: installation not successful an uknown error has occured Error 0x8008095. I have also tried the 3 steps to try before installing Windows 7 SP1 and I still get the above errors.

I would like to know the following:

1. When we update Windows where does it store the updates. Because I noticed that each time I update I loose disk space and I am wondering if I could delete these updates once I know they work.

2. I noticed a folder in the color of purple. It is: c:\user\username\App Data\local\migwiz

in this folder it contains the following files: debug.txt, diagerrr.xml, diagwrn.xml, miglog.xml, setupact.txt, setuper.txt

what is the folder for.

3.I use windows disk cleanup and ccleaner. I noticed that when you install or uninstall programs it creates a restore point and shadow copies. I clean them out once a month. Is there anywhere else that shadow copies are created and can be deleted. How about does Windows 7 has a cache where we need to delete files. How many temp folders does windows 7 create. I would like to retain some disk space back. Do you know if Office 2010 where it stores it updates and can we delete them once we know they work.

1. Depends on the files updated, but most service pack files update locations in WinSxS.
2. That folder contains the logging for migrating files from one machine to another, although some service pack update routines might use it.
3. This is way too many questions for one line item

- Shadow copies are stored on the disk as part of the cache for the volume shadow copy service (VSS)
- Not sure what you mean by "cache where we need to delete files" - if shadow copies are enabled, you can restore an existing file to a previous version (if a snapshot of one exists) in the file's properties, but once you physically delete a file it's gone (at least to Windows).
- Windows 7 creates lots of temporary files and folders, and so do many applications that run on the system (there are many ways to do this, so I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for, or even why this matters

- Unlike the old uninstall folders of XP, neither Windows or Office stores update backups this way anymore, and as such you can't just "delete" them. Office cleans up after itself (for the most part), and updating a service pack on Windows will leave you with a way to clean up old side-by-sides left behind once you're sure your system is running properly (using either dism or disk cleanup - tutorial here).
