Windows Updates - specifically the Games for Windows Live one

Is there an issue with the 'Games for windows live' update that has been released on 13th March. It came through as part of the latest windows 'patch tuesday' updates. Every other security update installed but this one keeps failing. It says 'Windows Update encountered an unknown error' code 80070643. Repeatedly fails to install. Looking under my programs and features list it shows i have the following installed:-

Microsoft Games for Windows - Live Redistributable - installed on 13/3/12 version 3.5.92.0
Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace - installed on 18/08/11 version 3.5.50.0

I can login to it okay but it keeps popping up as a windows update today and keeps failing. I think something is wrong with it. Anyone else?

    Thanks,
    Wayne

I got the same, ran the fix it tools no .net framework errors found. I thought I had removed the huge error known as games for windows bloatware, and removed it again. it's junk. Always has been.

Ok thanks guys. Not sure if I can be bothered to uninstall and reinstall. I think the update is corrupt. But it does make me worry net framework was corrupt on my laptop. But everything else worked fine, there were about 8 or 9 updates today in total. Plus if net framework was corrupt various other software on my machine surely wouldn't launch.

I must just hide the update. Bit of an annoyance.

    Cheers

You too huh? Yes gta 4 is how I got mine too. It's lousy software. I posted on the games for live forum tech support error too. I'll let you know if I hear anything. Anyone besides us two having an issue?

Update for Games for Windows Software 3.5

Same problem here. I repaired framework 4.0 Client profile, verified all frameworks which were installed susessfully and uninstalled Games for Windows 3.5 and reinstalled to no avail. Also repaired MSI and winows update components. Still the same error (Code 80070643). Conclusion: Another MS F-up! I almost uninstalled all my frameworks and reinstalled them but chose not to. Don't bother trying to fix this. Just wait until MS fixes it. Stock up on razors.

I was having a problem with 2 security updates not being installed thread here
    After uninstalling both:

Microsoft Games for Windows - Live Redistributable
    Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace

My windows updater found 7 new updates that it wasnt finding before, particularly important windows system updates a long with some additional security updates. Unfortunately the original 2 security updates i couldnt install before still remain uninstallable, the new 7 updates i found installed fine though.
