The key was indeed behind the battery. I didn't know keys were sometimes behind the battery.

With this key (which is a different from the keyfinder), the activation was immediate successfull...

There's a minor error there still - which can easily be cleared by going to manual validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate.

When it passes, you'll be offered MSE and IE9 - you don't have to take either.

That should eliminate the error "hr = 0xc004f012"
and leave you good to go!
