Essentials Update

NoelDP - Sorry, I neglected to mention that I also run Avast AV, MBAM pro, spywareblaster, spybot, also online scanners, (and Win. Defender & Win. firewall). Guess I just took it for granted that NOBODY would be as clueless as to not use an AV program. Also do regular maintenance like CCleaner, temp & Int. file cleanup, disk checks etc. Doing the best I can. Hope I haven't forgotten anything this time.
Thanks for your input!

t-4-2 - In order to download current version from FileHippo, would you have to uninstall existing one in use first?
Thank you.

I don't believe it is necessary. The new version should just over-write the old one, just like when I installed the WLEssentials update, it just updated my WLM to newer version.

However, you may want to wait for a different answer, if I am wrong.
One thing I do know for sure...
Once I wanted the WLM 2009 version instead of 2011 which I was not used to at the time. I wanted the one I was used to.
So, I uninstalled 2011 and re-installed 2009. All my old emails were untouched. They were there when I opened the 2009 WLM.
I was advised to backup the e-mails beforehand, I didn't do it, and it was not necessary, as it turned out.

adding......
It should be pointed out that, if there is more than one Windows Live program in the system, and if you want to change one of them into a different version, then you must uninstall the current WLEssentials version, then install the version you want instead.
In short, you cannot "mix and match".
such as... WLM in 2011 and Wlindows Live Photo Gallery in 2009. That's mix and match, can't do that.

Caution....
Avast and Malwarebytes Pro will create conflicts since both are in "real time protetion" mode.

.... only if the Malwarebytes has been set to

In theory, MBAM should not conflict with Avast (it is designed to operate in conjunction with conventional AV's) - but I agree that the first thing to eliminate would be any possible conflict, by disabling hte MBAM Real-Time Protection.

I've had systems where it has not caused a problem, and very similar systems where it has - with the same AV.

Personal opinion only.
Malearebytes Pro is not a free version. If I bought it, I surely would intend to use it for real-time protection. Else, I would have taken the free version, which I am having now.... MSE real-time, free MBAM on-demand.

MBAM says there could be possible conflicts.

That first link is two years old!! - and the data in the second link appears to be over a year old.
MBAM put out a new release a couple of days ago, and Avast have also updated since then so the information is likely to be stale at best.

I never had any problems with MBAM when I did the update. I have the paid version running in real time alongside Microsoft Security Essentials and neither of them squawked when I let Live Essentials update, I have the whole package.

essentials update

I have used Avast for about three years and MBAM free for longer than that but upgraded MBAM to pro almost a year ago. There hasn't been a problem. They both update themselves seamlessly. MBAM is constantly blocking undesirables from accessing my computer also as does Avast respond when the occasion presents itself.

t-4-2 Like your user name! Would you possibly know the most up to date version of Windows Mail 2009 (the one just before the infamous 2011 version).
Did the mail setup part stay all intact when you installed 2009 version also or did you have to set it up all over again?

No, I don't know the lattest version of WLM 2009.
I do have the link to download WLM 2009, but it is not from Microsoft.
Download Windows Live Mail 2009 - FileHippo.com
Note : the download button is at the right, not the one on the left.

I won't advise you to do that. Stick with the the latest 2011 version.

No, I had to setup the account from scratch. So, you will have to copy down the settings before you do the uninstalling and reinstalling.
