Preserve downloaded Windows Update files for re-use?

I've just spent an entire evening installing Windows 7 Starter, then all the Windows Updates, on a Netbook with a 16GB HD; it got very full! Then I discovered RT Seven Lite so I'm going to have to do it all again!

Is there a way to preserve the downloaded Windows Update files, so I don't have to download them all again? I could obviously make a copy of the download folder, but I'm also not keen on having to install them manually.

    Hello Nigel,

You may be able to extract them using the free program in the tutorial below.
If not, then you could download and save the MSU files for the Windows Updates in a folder on say an external HDD as a backup to be able use when including them in a slipstreamed installation disc created with RT Seven Lite.

Thanks for the above. I've actually bitten the bullet and re-installed now, but it is handy info to have for the future.
