This copy of windows is not genuine - why?

Lol, I used the exact same disc to install W7 Pro X64 on another PC this morning and I got a "THIS COPY OF WINDOWS IS NOT GENUINE", you must activate today and my desktop background turned black!

One my 1st PC using the exact same disc, I never got that message....the only difference during the installation was maybe I didn't enter keys (went downstairs) and I disabled the UAC right after installation...could this be the cause?

Anyway I entered the keys, went online to activate and all is fine now.....I just thought a clean instillation would give you 30 days before activation

It usually does unless you modify the any BIOS/hardware settings (drivers) or timezone/time settings after installation, You also probably left the "Auto Activate after first use" option selected on the setup screen and since it attempted activating on its first use and then failed it probably caused the "Activate Now" messages, You could always use the rearm command and get another 30days trial period

FYI: It doesn't matter what installation media you use, your DVD had absolutely nothing todo with it skipping the trial period

Both of them gone. If shawn was any faster he would have banned them before they posted it. I swear he is psychic sometimes

Ahhh, that must be it, cause I flashed my MB's bios and took out the battery to clear the CMOS just right before the installation and the MB's internal clock/time went kaput, gone back to something like 2007.

Thanks dmex, always learning something new from this forum here.

    Best regards.
