Downloading Security Updates for .NET Framework 4, necessary?

Hello, I have been really choosy in downloading Microsoft Updates and most of the time I only install updates like "update for microsoft windows 7 and security updates for windows 7". Do you guys install the .Net framework 4 updates? and is it really necessary?

Welcome to Seven Forums Nev4rForgotten. I personally take all the .net updates. But I also make system images before I do, just in case (I make weekly images anyway). The last (5/8) updates were security updates to prevent remote code execution. I think if you have .net installed, you should take the updates. Many recommend waiting to see if there are reported issues before installing, but do not skip them entirely.

There were issues in installing .net updates a few months ago but in the last few "Patch Tuesdays" MS seem to have got their act together and they have gone in smoothly.

    Another vote for YES.

    Install the updates.

Be forewarned, some of the .NET updates will take forever.
you will think that the update is hung.

    UPDATE IS HUNG –TAKING FOREVER
Hung is very doubtful unless you interrupted updates.

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combo will pop-up the Task Manager.
Lo and behold, Windows Update is still running!

You hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys.
While holding them down, tap the ESC key once.

I have just posted on thread

.NET updates fail to install with error 800B0100 and 80070308

Rather than duplicate that here, let's consider it included here by reference.
