I'll have to agree with shawn77, system format is not a solution, more like changing the PC. I keep getting this error with the KB2732487 update. Tried FixIt solutions, complete clean-up/reset of Windows Update and manual download but nothing works.

Just as for zx81 resetting Windows Update solved my problem.

I managed to avoid the problem by not installing all available updates at once (4-5 at a time is safer). This seems to cause problems some times, especially for new installations with a lot of updates to install.

I'm having the same problem. I can't get updates to work. It has the 800b0100 code. I've tried
all the patches suggested. I can't reformat this laptop because it came with windows 7 64 pre installed
and there is no recovery partition. I have a number of my own W7 discs, but the COA have already
been used. This laptop has SP 1 in it already.

How can I get this update mess fixed ?

    Any help is always appreciated.

Ok. I sure will. Let me get the items and logs ready which will take a while and then I'll start a new thread.
    Thanks !
