    updates for windows only

Hello, tearing my hair out after 10 years of using open office with no problems whatsover. I bought office 2010, after many many search problems I gave up trying to fix, I reinstalled windows, the search errors seem fixed for the time being.
But windows update says instal updates for windows only. if I link more details for updating other msoft products it just opens windows update? nothing in settings.
I ran some fix it junk that just said no problems.
After installing office there was no 'recommended settings' pop up.
How do I turn this on?
    thanks

Looks like either a silverlight, or admin account bug. Bored of fixing microsoft's really tacky buggy software, games for windows live, live essentials, windows, and now office or windows update. Removed office installed open office (which manages to update itself!)
Asked for my money back for office. If it cannot even check for updates I Don't expect it works very well in any other areas.

Well I couldn't let it rest. It's a file ownership bug that seems to get borked if you tighten windows as your alternative to using anti virus, and then restore. There are quite a few factors the easiest fix is to remove silverlight (if you use it??) and reinstall it using recomended setting. If like most people you don't use it, install on recommended settings then remove it.
Do you think I would buy office and install it on a pirated copy of windows?
