top secret

New member
Hi.

Th problem is that all windows updates are failed to install (around 27 updates) since the 17/May.
I tried everything from deleting temporary files, doing malware check, hard disk check for errors, still could not solve it.

Any ideas?

Have you tried this link? Error Codes: 64C & 66C (Can't install updates) - Microsoft Answers It is for those specific error codes.

Also, it may not help, but tyy opening an elevated command prompt ( click the start button, in the search box type cmd, in the only entry that appears, right click it and select 'run as administrator') In the command prompt window copy/paste this sfc /scannow it is a system file checker that may detect any corrupted or missing system files and attempt to repair them.

Just another suggestion that's worked for me in the past. If you're letting Windows Updates "Install updates automatically (recommended)", I'd change that to "Never check for updates (not recommended)". Then manually check for updates. Updates are usually classified as Critical/Important, Recommended, and Optional. Start with the critical/important. If you've got 5 or less I'd install just one at a time, rebooting after each install. Keep track of each KB number so if there's a problem you'll know which update to uninstall.

If you've got more than 5 updates I'd install in groups of 3-5 at a time. Again, keep track of the KB number, reboot after each group, and if problems occur you'll know which group to uninstall. Then try installing one at a time. They'll either install OK or you'll know exactly which update is causing the problem. Ignore that update for the time being and continue installing the next group. It's a lot slower process but I've had good results on my machines doing it this way.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
so, what i have done now is uninstalling Microsoft visual C++ stopping the windows updates service, deleted the temporary files of windows update, and restart again.
The security update for Microsoft visual C++ installed successfully, finally.
However, the office updates failed to install. Although i'm trying one by one!
I'll try to uninstall microsoft office and install it again.

I does look like it's an Office-specific problem. Are they all the same error?
If so, then the problem is likely to be easiest solved by uninstalling Office, running the cleanup tool, and then reinstalling - but I can't claim any expertise!

I Fixed My Issue with 8007006E

I have installed Office 2010 but there are still lingering 2007 files/programs on my system.

I tried to delete them but that wasn't possible because they were all in my Windows.old files.

However, when I uninstalled the Microsoft 2007 Compatibility program the unneeded updates magically were unnecessary according to the updater.

Problem solved...for me at least.

The Windows.old folder is present from having done an upgrade install - and is irrelevant to the current installation. once you have recovered any data that may be hidden inside it, you can safely delete the whole windows.old folder.
