Yeah Noel done that one already and plus those other "fixes" that the Microsoft site suggested it just will not download and install - more importantly - vie a straight update or saving it and then installing.
here is one reply
Method 1: Run the fix-it from the article mentioned below:
Fix the problem with Microsoft Windows Update that is not working:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/ Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and then try to install the update.
Disable antivirus software
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Disable-antivirus-software Important Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3: If that does not help, I would recommend you to place the computer in clean boot state, download the standalone version of the Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 3, and then try to install and see if that helps.
Step 1:
Clean Boot:
Refer:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in Step 7 from the above KB article.
Step 2:
Download from here:
The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 3 (SP3):

To be honest I don't know what to do uninstall the wretched software and get a freebie as I don't use it that much as long as my already made up docs transfer and can be opened in basically the same format.
The only thing stopping me do that right away is that I paid for thee M$ stuff and begrudge having to do that.
I have the SP3 saved in downloads just in case something comes up but I can only hold my breath for so long
