WIN7 7601 error on GENUINE WIN7

Hi Noel, do you mean my latest screen below? I just edited a typo mistake in my above post, this reading is what I got in 'F12' NOT F10.

IF so, what do I select, as the tutorials I was lead to, does not cover this procedure. Do I select 'Enter Setup'? If so, then what next... until I can then get back to following the tutorial instructions again.

I did this above, and it takes me immediately with the option to 'install' OR 'repair' ONLY.

Shall I just click on 'repair' and let windows do what it can and forget about the win7 loader XE and corrupt recovery drive?

I am not quite sure what to do now. Is my boot a vista and not win7 on my win7 disk? - this is all rather confusing

Okay, I just did the boot from Win7 disc with F12 and then hitting the spacebar 4 times.

I now have a different screen:

Windows Boot Manager

choose an operating system to start, or press TAB to select a tool:
(use the arrow keys to highlight your choice, then press ENTER.)

Windows setup [EMS enabled]

To specify an advanced option for this choice, press F8

Tools:
Windows Memory Diagnostic

Any ideas what to do next.

While you think, I will take a photo of the MS box etc.

In theory the 'get genuine' kit is a full retail package of Windows - so I suspect that your're booting to the recovery partition , still.

use F12, and select the DVD - get to the 'Press a Key' prompt, and press the Spacebar (you have 4 seconds!)

You should then get a 'Windows is loading' screen with a Grey/White bar near the bottom.

You need to access the Command line on the Win7 DVD first to wipe the HD with Clean Command.

Reboot computer with disk in DVD drive, tap the F12 key repeatedly.

Choose the DVD drive to boot. The choice is obvious from those given.

At first screen press Shift + F10 to access a Command Line. If this doesn't open the Command Box, then choose Repair My Computer, then from Recovery Tools choose Command Prompt.

in Command Box type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (confirm this is your HD by size)
CLEAN
EXIT

Now proceed with Install Now.

Hi Gregrocker, thank you so much for this advice... although I have just seen your latest post and getting rather confused on timing.

I was following your post No. '85' and have the following black screen appear it says:

(please note, I am on an old American laptop typing this and the keyboard is all wrong and cannot find back slash, so forward slash used instead.)

This doesn't sound like the screen I want?????

I was pressing shift + F10 after selecting DVD.

Just read your latest post 86, am I to do shift + F10 and now the spacebar all together within 4 seconds???? Please explain???? So sorry to be thick, but I am obviously not getting the precise timing right here.

Now I have

Shall I just escape from this screen and start again pressing mightily quickly F12 ...... then shift F10 & 4 x Spacebar within 4 seconds on black screen when it asks me again to select DVD???

When the DVD boots you'll see this screen:



Press and hold the Shift and then the F10 key until Command Box pops up.

If this fails I gave you another way to access the Command Prompt from booted DVD, which is to choose Repair My Computer on second screen, then Recovery Tools, then Command Prompt. Did you try this?

Click on Repair your computer. (See screenshot below)

Just done it again, and still getting the above post screen. What happens if I press F8 to 'specify an advanced option' - is this where I need to go??? I await your good advice.
