    Everything you say I hear it in a Scottish accent! Can't say I've ever heard one in my life though! How's the weather there is it cold??

    She will need to buy Win 7, since she has no records or other info giving a vista or Win 7 product key for her machine.

    Time for her to consult her mate and ask him his desires.

    So I do a fresh install and buy a new windows 7 for the new key.. But the hp chick said even if I buy a new windows since the BIOS was wiped out it wouldn't have "anything to hold on to"??

    She is wrong!

    If you have any records to indicate that you once had a valid version on there, then all you need to do is buy the upgrade version, which incidentally is every bit as full as the "full" version.

    We have a tutorial on how to do this, giving three different approaches.
