Still no issue at shut-down/restart, but no guarantee it will stay that way, since this can happen randomly..
I am applying some hot-fixes to my other machines, through the Microsoft Fit it Solution Center...but when I attempt to download a fix, it says:
"Connection problem
There was a problem connecting to the guided search service.
We are working on restoring the service now.
Please try again later." | My System Specs

Oh gosh...I have bad news. The problem is still here. My PC went into "please don't unplug or power off your machine, installing update 1 of 1....", which it was still doing with no progress at 3am when I decided to pull the plug. | My System Specs

Follow the instructions from here.... You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services
run the Fixit in default mode, then test Windows Update
If it fails, then run in Aggressive mode, reboot and test Windows Update again
post back with your result | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude! Hi,
While I wait for Microsoft's server problems (again) to resolve, could you tell me how to run Fixit in default / agressive modes? Where do I select these modes? As far as I can see, there's only one default mode to run it..? | My System Specs

Once the Fixit is downloaded, simply run it - it should offer the options. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude! Ah - they've changed the way the page works - again!
Open the link I gave you - wait until the whole page has lodaed, and you've been offered teh 'fixeverything' rool - then cancel that.
Now you should have the option to donwload Fixit 50202.
download that and run it - you'll be offered the option to run it in aggressive mode - turn it down for the moment, but run the tool anyhow. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude! Thank you. I ran it (non agressive mode) and will see if that fixed the issue.
If not, I'll try again in agressive mode.
There is still an issue with Windows Update though:
When I run the update, it detects one item that needs to be installed. When I hit install.....the progress bar never actually progresses. I end up force closing Windows Updates because it becomes unresponsive. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ggio1770/z.jpg | My System Specs | | Install update during shutdows, never ends. problems?
