SP1, non existant, impossible to update to.

Ive installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit like 5 times now, was having blue screens and stuff before, and was told to update to SP1, which i didnt even know about (head in the clouds) now im trying to install it and it seems damned near impossible.

Ive tried downloading every possible windows update, still doesnt show me SP1... its not installed, only updates that say anything like "sp1", installed are the net framework 4 SP1 things.

i even downloaded the 3.5 gig install for SP1 or whatever from M$ and loaded it onto a usb drive and tried to install/upgrade using that, and the thing told me, that i had to have SP1 installed first?!

    idk im stumped. any help?

Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

3.5 gig? The 64 bit should be either 1050 MB through windows update or 7400 MB if gotten through the website. The link above should help.

I used that guide to download the file and such, but the pages are so damn confusing... like i had to read at the bottom of the page is all the jumbled words in the download center, just to find which one was for 64 bit windows. ill check it again, see if i can navigate through the vagueness

I downloaded that exact file. Every time i run it, it says something or other is missing that it needs, so it says click this link for info, and the info says to run windows 7 install, do upgrade and install using updated installation, and then i run it again, same message.

It sounds like it may be detecting that your current Windows 7 install has some corrupt or damaged files, and it can't continue. I just dealt with that on two systems that were previously infected with malware.

It would be nice if the reply is accompanied by a " quote " like I did, or type in the name, so that it is clear to whom you are replying.

The MS Download Center provides a Service pack 1 for ALL Windows 7 OS.
There is no separate SP1 for each Win 7 version.
