    LOL.

Well done for keeping at it.

I suppose it makes sense-MS wanted to see something before issuing a new key.

Send it anyway. Which I did.

She called back and gave me a product code to type into the 'Change Product Key' link in System Properties.

    Done.
    YAY! a result!!
(told you that was the way to go :) )

Now take care of that Key with your life!! - store it with the PC (in the battery compartment) with your documents, and with your disks!

Curious about those Samsung recovery files now - maybe I will be able to get a hold of them someday and figure it out.

I just tried it again with the Sony recov files - worked fine , I could even install it onto a completely different machine ( need to put in one of my own prod keys to activate, of course)

Creating the Macrium image now and I plan to keep several copies just in case.

I also 'laminated' two copies of the key already (with tape...)

One is in an envelope inside a sealed freezer food bag and taped to the inside of my wardrobe. The other is taped inside the battery enclosure.

I'd have gotten a tattoo but can't stand needles.

Now that I have my life back and some free time I can get the recovery files to you if it enables you to work out the solution?

    Very interesting!
They gave you a COA_SLP Key - I was expecting it to be a COA_NSLP one.
    Thanks for posting that.

Have fun with your 'new machine' :)

Thanks! I plan to spend the evening on Limewire and opening links from emails I don't trust (joke)

    What's a COA NSLP?
