UP dates fail to DL and Install

Enclosed are two attachments one of the zipped CBS.zip file and on of the update settings page.
I have the settings set to check for updates on a daily basis, DL and Install them at 11 AM.
The system does check for updates on a daily basis and selects them for action.
The updates, although selected, do NOT DL and install at 11 AM or any other time.

It seems to have managed to do everything it needed to, but there are some worrying errors in the background CBS log - which I would have expected Checksur to also flag, but it doesn't seem to have done.

    A couple of examples...
    Code:

I'm not sure what causes this type of error - but I suspect that it's corruption of the SoftwareDistribution folder.

This could be due to corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder - the problem with that the conventional cure can lead to problems later on, if not handled properly, and you will lose your Update history (but the updates will still be installed, and viewable in the Installed Updates listing).

    Open an Elevated Command Prompt
    Run the following commands

    NET STOP WUAUSERV
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
    NET START WUAUSERV

    wait 15 minutes, and reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.

Install only the oldest update found - and reboot once installed
then go back to Windows updates and install the others.

    Noel,.
I did all you suggested. Had no problem doing them.
I did not have any updates to do an additional test. I wanted to see if an update, already selected, would download and install at 11AM. The time I put in settings. It did NOT and was deselected.

I then selected it again and downloaded and installed manually. That was successful. I'm going to uninstall it as I don't need the spanish package installed.

Auto update ONLY installs Security patches and Important items - not optional ones (whether you tick them off or not).

So that behaviour is perfectly normal

After two days it seems to be fixed. Time will tell. Thanks, Noel.
