Windows Update via control panel corrupted
When I try to do Windows Update, it drills down into the control panel, system and security, windows update but the content of the page is messed up
I see a yellow icon with exclamation and some text
with a blank button which when I click babbles some long message about Microsoft Office file validation add in
If I go back to System and Security in Control Panel I can view the installed updates OK but I cant edit the turn automatic updates on and off because again the page is blank except I see half a button which looks like it could be setting a time to update but its like the html or whatever is just missing or totally messed up
Anyone have any ideas, and is there not a way to run windows update with a direct executable link?
I have a DELL Vostro 430 with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, I have had issues with validation before so I have been running the slui windows validation tool from startup. Ive had the PC shut down siince June while I messed with an iMac, but I dont recall if this was an issue before, Ive only turned it on today so I guess it was like that before, its a genuine purchased OEM system, nothing dodgy etc.
thanks in advance
