Problems installing windows updates both automatically and manually

Hi i just bought a lenovo thinkpad t430 (this week) that came already with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit already installed and i'm having issues installing updates.

all the automatic updates would install but on reboot the install would fail (even with antivirus disabled and on safemode) reverting back to original settings.

i then went to do manual downloads and updates from the microsoft page. i managed to successfully install all of the "security update for windows" but all of the "update for windows 7 for x64 based systems" are the ones im having trouble with along with a few others.

on the manual download page for the KB2647753, KB2522422, etc (there are 10 of them total) i run into the validation required when i try to download. the actual download link for the windows activation tool (genuinecheck.exe) is "no longer supported. please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate".

i then went and manually downloaded MGAdiag.exe to run a manual diagnostic and this is what i get.

    Code:

when i try to plug in the validation code value of 0 into the manual webpage, i get directed to a page where i must click "continue" to complete validation. once i click it i get redirected to Genuine Windows - Microsoft Windows and the download is nowhere to be found. if i got back to the initial download page, same process all over again.

completely and thoroughly frustrated. please help?

I managed to update with KB2647753 first because it was list in the required updates in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update list. I selected only KB2647753 and downloaded it. Then ran all the outstanding updates successfully.

I now get a message stating my OS is not genuine when I start up. I have run Windows Validation from Genuine Microsoft Software which showed my OS to be genuine. ( I assumed it was as I brought it from Dell)
I am still trying to get GenuineCheck.exe to work

    calvin,
I will ask one of the MGADiag experts to look at your post.

In the meantime, never install an update or workaround from any source other than Microsoft.

If you have, then I'm going to need you to carry out following:

HOW TO USE MICROSOFT'S OFFLINE MALWARE REMOVER
    Windows Defender Offline
    · performs an offline scan of an infected PC to remove viruses, rootkits and other advanced malware.
    · is a free standalone, bootable malware and virus remover from Microsoft.

Download Windows Defender Offline (about 785 kB)
You will have the choice of downloading the 32bit version (x86) or the 64 bit version (x64).
The link will help you determine whether you are running a 32 bit version or 64 bit version of Windows

NOTE!! You can download and prepare a 32 bit version using a 64 bit version of Windows
NOTE!! You can download and prepare a 64 bit version using a 32bit version of Windows.

You run the 32 bit version on a 32 bit version of Windows.
You run the 64 bit version on a 64 bit version of Windows.

The 32 bit download file name is: mssstool32.exe
The 64 bit download file name is: mssstool64.exe

For the curious, this program was originally name Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper.

    INSTALLATION:
    · Requires an Internet Connection.
    · Insert 512 mB or larger USB stick into a usb port.
    · Run the downloaded program--mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe
    · NEXT button
    · Choose the option On a USB flash drive that is not password protected
    · NEXT button
    · NEXT button
    .
    The install program will:
    · format the usb stick using the NTFS format.
    · download less than 230 mB.
    · name the USB stick WDO_Media32 or WDO_Media64
    · use less than 300 mB.

How to UPDATE the Windows Defender Offline USB stick:
    · reinsert the usb stick
    · run the installation program, mssstool64.exe or mssstool32.exe, again.
    · the update will download less than 65 mB.

Since the malware database is sometimes updated several times in a day, always update before running.

    PERFORM AN OFFLINE SCAN
Bootup your computer from the USB stick
Windows Defender Offline will automatically perform a quick scan.
After the quick scan finishes, Choose Full Scan
    Select all of your drives

The initial, full scan can easily take several hours, but
Remember, your computer is being very thoroughly checked for all types of malware.

    calvin,
For the time being use only IE for performing updates. Some others have had similar problems I have not and I do not use IE.

hey everybody thanks for the help. im having a little more success with the automatic updates, DAVYB i got the one you mentioned to install first to go in. i have 9 more updates, do y'all have any ideas in regards to the order in which i should install them one at a time? its weird that the first one i got to go in wasnt the oldest one.

    i still have:
    -KB2522422
    -KB2603229
    -KB2677070
    -KB2699779
    -KB2709630
    -KB2718704
    -KB2729094
    -KB2732487
    -KB2732500

still no luck with the manual download/genuine check off the website though. couldnt find a link to an actual .exe file for a new genuine check on your link either GMS.
