Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the real situation is.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

I don't understand why your calling them third party. Technically they are, but they come preinstalled on the computer. They are from the official website, and really It is not needed, but why not just use what they give you to update your computer to its latest and probably most responsible state. It's not like i was telling him to go use driver genius or anything like that. Please correct me if i am wrong, but i have used Amd's official driver updater on multiple pc's and no problems have occurred. Hp support assistant comes preinstalled on the computer and so does CCC so why would it hurt to use them and update your computer?
So is the AMD software pre installed on the PC? HP computers are noted for having more bloatware than most. I have to say that I am an advocate of doing a clean install on any new computer to get rid of the bloatware. None of it is needed and any PC will perform much better without it. IMHO That is! Mind you this view is shared by many of the top advisers on this Forum, one in particular guided me through the process and I shall forever be grateful to him!

On HP/Compaq computers bloat is not an issue anymore, just uninstall the trial of norton and its good to go.

Your installation of Windows 7 is counterfeit, I'm afraid - the machine is a year too old to support the OEM_SLP Key in use, which means that there is an activation Exploit present to force acceptance of the Key.
An update you installed has broken part of the exploit and returned the system to normal function - mostly.
