    Cannot Update KB2691442 & KB2732500 - Error Codes 800B0100 & 800F0900

I have to update these two updates in order to use my university's internet connection. I have tried many, many troubleshooting methods from Microsoft's Fix-It Tool to manually installing the updates to repairing and even re-installing .NET Framework from a clean source. I have my CheckSur files attached. The CBS file was too big to upload.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello Leespiker and welcome to the forums

Here's the log from the latest SURT run:

    Code:
    =================================

I have extracted the files from the update and attached them to this post (Extracted.zip), please download and extract this file to your desktop. There will be two files:

    package_2_for_kb2691442~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.3.mum
    package_2_for_kb2691442~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.3.cat

Copy and paste these files into the following location:

    %Windir%\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

    Where %Windir% is usually C:\Windows

Then rerun the SURT and copy and paste the CheckSUR.persist.log as before.

    Hey Tom,

No worries. Take your time, and thanks again.

    Lee

P.S. It's stupid that I have to update these updates in the first place.

    Any luck?

EDIT: Didn't even realize it, but my laptop is Windows 7 64-bit. Can't I just take the packages from there?

EDIT(2): I took the packages/updates from my laptop. It worked! Thank you for your help Tom!

    Hi Lee,

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The files that were corrupt on your computer are known as the 'default package' and I've never come across one of these before. The problem was that there wasn't a file with a matching name in the files that I extracted from the update, so I didn't know which one to use. A good friend, and teacher, told me that the default package is named update.mum and update.cat in the files and what do you know, they're there! :) But it looks like you've solved your problem by yourself - great job!

It's fine to take packages from another computer (I would've uploaded the files from my W7 x64 if the power supply wasn't bust!), but there's a chance that these might be corrupt as well. Obtaining the files from an update guarantees that they're free from errors :) But if the SURT has replaced them, then they must be alright.

Once again, great job for fixing this yourself :)

    Tom
