This copy of windows is not genuine..sure it is!

Hello, I just recently noticed I have a problem I got this message "this copy of windows is not genuine" It is genuine though it came with the e-machine when I bought it and has never given me this message before.

I just recently installed linux mint 13 mate. and so I deleted other partitions containing ubuntu. I ran into a little difficulty because apparently the MBR in windows did not exist or windows could not access it. I did not know what to do about that so I decided to install mint and have it boot up my pc and it worked from there I was able to open windows from the dual boot menu. Somewhere in this process I tried to repair windows hoping it would fix the MBR with my repair disks but it would not work it said not enough disk space to back up all my files so it stopped working.

Otherwise I thought everything was ok Linux mint booted up ran fine. And windows opened fine and ran fine. Until I saw this message that windows is not genuine.. Is there a way I can verify the numbers? by inputing them somewhere in the pc software? The pc has the OS validation numbers on the back. As the software came pre-installed.

I tried to validate windows on the web but it only tried to make be buy a new windows program.

I really don't want to go through the whole re-install thing I actually have the pc working fine except for this message..

Thanks for any attempts to help.

    Dave

You appear to have multiple issues -
let's start with hopefully the easy one.....

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=21730

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

OK - let's check some of the other potential causes then.....

Please run the following commands, and post the results in a Code Box

    DIR C:\Windows\System32 /AR /S
    NET START CRYPTSVC
    SC QC CRYPTSVC
    SC QUERYEX CRYPTSVC
    REG QUERY HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\spldr /S
    REG QUERY HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SPLDR /S

    They may show something

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the CP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder. find the Catroot2 folder there, and right-click on it - select Properties.

In the General tab, clear the box beside 'Read-only (Only.....' by clicking in it until it's empty (it cycles around three values)

    Click Apply.
Accept any warnings that come up - if you get a 'Ignore/Ignore All/Try again' option, pick 'Ignore all'

Once complete (may be almost instantaneous),

reboot, and run another MGADiag report.
