Unable to install update KB2676562, error 800B0100

I have not been able to successfully install updates KB2676562 or 2679255. And now, along with those, KB2709715 and KB2731847 fail to install.

    I have tried multiple fixes:
    1. MS Fix It and hot fixes
    2. manually installed updates
    2. Ran Chkdsk (no errors found)
    3. Ran System File Checker tool
    4. Reset the Catroot2 folder
    5. Regsitered the Windows update files
    6. ReNamed the SoftwareDistribution folder
    7. Cleared the BITS queue
and 8. Ran the System Update Readiness toll (CheckSur.exe). This is the only thing that has defined a problem. It found the CBS Mum Corrupt 0x800F0900 and the CBS Catalog Corrupt 0x800B0100 and notes 4 unavailable repair files.

Any thoughts on if the CBS corrupt Mum and Catalog are causing the failed updates and how do repair those?

    re-install

Thank you. I have not tried the re-install. This is a new computer bought directly from HP in April, so I may go back to them about doing a re-install as it looks rather involved for a new computer.

Your computer may be also still under warranty, and therefore will be able to repair or replace it for free.

If not, try: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

    Hope everything gets sorted,

Hello Matieco and welcome to the forums

I can't help you at all without seeing the log from the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT). It is located in the following location:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Copy and paste the contents of this into your next post please :)

Let's not get ahead of ourselves Harry :) A clean/repair install should be the last resort. The two error codes we have (0x800F0900 and 0x800B0100) are very simple to fix. After we get this log, I should (famous last words... :P ) be able to wrap it up in one post.

It should be easier than that :) The CheckSUR.persist.log will tell us what to do. Here's a thread that I had recently with the same error codes:

    Cannot Update KB2691442 & KB2732500 - Error Codes 800B0100 & 800F0900

Matieco, do not follow the instructions that I posted for that user, they are specific to his computer

    %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log.

    Correct file location?

    With %SYSTEMROOT% being C:\Windows

or where the operating system files were saved?

That's the one :) I usually don't bother with the environment variable (unless it's for a replacement batch file or something) because I think it's more likely that the OP will know what their Windows drive is than know where %SYSTEMROOT% translates to. It's just my preference though, I can see both arguments - perhaps I should meet somewhere in the middle, my canneds could do with an update.

From your last solved thread, we need the .log files to be uploaded, to be analysed and the appropriate files to be replaced? (:
