    You had two failing services
    SeaPort
    PremierOpinion
You've also had a number of problems with the HD and CD port controllers

I would recommend uninstalling Premier Opinion completely - it's widely regarded as spyware, if not malware.

It seems the I/O problem was with the Windows Application log. You should try renaming the file concerned (Application.evtx ) to Application.evtx.old and then booting to normal mode.

I did CHKDSK D: /R as C: said file not found.

It said windows replaced bad clusters in 4 files (in file data) including the Application.evt one.

On free space: adding 13 files to the bad clusters file, correcting volume in the Volume Bitmap, Windows has made the corrections to the file system.
52 KB in bad sectors (amongst other stuff)
Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50.

I'm now back in normal mode, system restore is up and running, as well as the event log - you are very very skilled indeed.

Thanks so much for your help and patience, and for teaching me one or two things along the way.

One more thing: I don't know what PremierOpinion is, nor where I could find it.

Your hard drive is showing multiple signs that it's failing - you should back up your data to external media NOW, before the drive fails completely.

It may fail tomorrow, or it may take weeks, but fail it most certainly will. Plan now for its replacement.
