Windows 7: KB2719985 failing to install

KB2719985 failing to install
I've been having the problem since July and once a week or so I'll try to solve the problem but I've given up and seeking help now.

Everytime I try to install the update 'KB2719985', it fails installation. I have tried;
sfc /scannow
Windows Readiness Tool
Reset Windows update
Manually install in clean boot
Repairing through Windows 7 disc
Placing .msu package in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSUR and running Readiness Tool

The CheckSUR was a lot more errors but I seem to of fixed those using the above methods and by extracting the 'missing files' to the appropriate folders.
My problem now is when I download and extract the .msu (for SP1 and standard 64bit), I can't find the file needed. The closest I can get is;
Package_for_KB2719985_sp1~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.0.[ext]
and the manifests aren't there either.

I've scanned for virus/malware and am all clean too.

O/S: Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1

Can anyone help? Its now starting to stop other updates too, which I'm hoping will fix itself once this is sorted.

EDIT: Just followed some solutions on the follwing page; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2509997
Now Windows fails to start. I can't boot in safe mode either. Startup repair not repairing and booting from Windows disk, I can only do a clean install (upgrade asks to start windows normally and then install).
Am well and truely ****** now... will have to plug my HDD into someone elses comp and transfer documents before doing a reformat =[
System Restore not picking up restore points (that were made once a month) so... mod can probably close this topic unless anyone knows how to fix through command promt?
