How do I fix "This copy of Windows is not Genuine"?

My husband's aunt has a Toshiba that she got from her niece. I was trying to help her fix it when I discovered a message at the bottom right hand side of the screen is says "Windows 7 - Build 7600 - This copy of Windows is not genuine." I asked her what this was about and she told me that it should have been fixed when she took it to Office Depot. Could Office Depot have given her an illegal copy? I ran a Diagnostics Check, and this is what it gave me below. I appreciate any help on this!

If there is a sticker on the outside of your PC that has a 25 character number/letter on it, that is what you need to input in your Windows to make it legal. Do you see that anywhere on it? It is not very big, maybe the size of three postage stamps.

There is, but it's so worn out that I can only make out a few letters/numbers.

I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try - it depends on what Office Depot did when they had hold of it.

Use the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page, and enter the following Key

    9H4FH-VD69Y-TGBD2-4PM4K-DRMMH

This Key is the Toshiba Windows 7 HomeBasic OEM_SLP Key - and will ONLY work if the installation of the OS was done using legitimate Recovery media for the manufacturer.

If that fails with a 0xC004F063 error, then we know that they reinstalled using Retail media, (and never bothered to tell anyone). You would then need to contact Toshiba, and order a set of Recovery disks for the machine.
