MSE Update KB2754296 Last night I was notified that new updates were availible. I went to the update page and selected all of the important updates.
KB2754296 failed to installed. I have tried several times to get it to install.
During the attempt to install the update I get this message:
After a few seconds the top two (2) parts of that message go away. Then I get this:
MSE seems to be working normally but I can NOT figure out why this update keeps failing. Any suggestions would be helpful.
BTW is there any place I can download this update and install manually?
Thanks | My System Specs |

You're the lucky one!
I installed an update to the MSE ongoing Beta this morning, and it took me two hours to get back into my system again.
(seems like no damage done, and MSE updated definitions properly afterwards but....)
Usually, the easiest way around MSE update errors is to uninstall and reinstall. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude! I had similar problems. It looks for a file epp.msi but it appears it has trouble finding it, the file is in the Backup folder or MS Security Client but in the AMD64 folder. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hybrid OS Win7 SP1 + Ultimate 64 bit CPU I7 2600K Motherboard Z68UDH 3R Memory 32gb Gskill Graphics Card GTX 660Ti EVGA Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 22" LCD Widescreen Screen Resolution 1650/1080 Keyboard Microsoft USB Mouse Microsoft USB PSU 750W Thermaltake Case Thermaltake A60 Cooling Xigmatek Dark Knight CPU and stock case fans Hard Drives 1 x Intel 330 SSD

On a Win 7 64 Bit system i found epp.msi in \Program Files\Microsoft Security Client\Backup\amd64
On a Win 7 32 Bit system i don't find epp.msi
The MSE update worked on both of these systems.
I found epp.msi in this log (Win 7 64 Bit)
\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support\MSSecurityClient_Setup_4.1.522.0_epp_Upgrade.log

I was mistaken, the 32 Bit system i looked at does not have MSE on it.
I just checked a 32 Bit system with MSE and the file is:

At the moment I have NO clue why the update is NOT working. As long as MSE continues to work in a way I think it should, I will leave it alone.
If MSE should stop working then I will uninstall it and then reinstall the latest version.
Right now I can't think of anything else to try. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Pro CPU Intel(R) Pentium(R) Duel CPU E2200 2.20 Ghz Motherboard GA-G41M-ES2L Memory 4 gb 2.96 Usable Graphics Card Onboard Sound Card Onboard Hard Drives 2 - 1TB WD Sata Drives |
