    I really need the whole CBS.log file, rather than just the SFC extract (which still only shows the earlier result) - please copy the file to the desktop, then zip it and upload it.

    Please also download and run the CheckSUR tool - then post the CheckSUR log as well.

    Please run the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 (you'll need to look in the details for Method 2)

    then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your public SkyDrive so I can take a look - post a link in your reply.
    The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and will exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.

    I can't find CBS.log. Did a search and it came up with nothing.

    I'll run the tool after I go to class today.

    Found it. But I keep getting "access is denied". I tried the following command: notepad
    %systemroot%\logs\cbs\cbs.log

    Copy it to another folder, then you will be able to access it.

    Right click on it, click COPY, go to another folder, then click PASTE. Upload it here for Noel to look at, and don't forget to follow his other suggestions.

    Your have a small group of errors which I susepct are causing your problem.
    Code:
    2012-09-30 09:24:25, Error                 CSI    0000003d@2012/9/30:13:24:25.648 (F) d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\sil\merged\ntu\ntsystem.cpp(2057): Error STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED originated in function Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectFileSystemProvider::SysCreateFile expression: (null)

    2012-09-30 09:24:28, Error                 CSI    00000040 (F) STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED #848368# from PrimitiveInstaller::CCoordinator::RepairComponent(Component = Microsoft-Windows-BootEnvironment-OS-Loader, Version = 6.1.7601.17556, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral)[gle=0xd0000022]
    For some reason, teh system is attempting to access the D: drive at this point - to get the file d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\sil\merged\ntu\ntsystem.cpp

    I have no idea why it should be asking for that file - we definitely need the CheckSUR results!
