Security update keeps failing after Shutdown install.

Security update keeps failing after Shutdown install.

The Important Security Update shown in the screenie below keeps reinstalling itself, cueing on the Shutdown button, then installing itself at Shutdown, failing and then repeating process. This has gone on for weeks now it seems.

I have run Option 2 batch file in Windows Update - Reset - Windows 7 Forums twice now.

Any other suggestions short of a Repair Install?

BTDT! :) - I'll probably be snoring by then.

I assume you've run CHKDSK, SFC and CheckSUR? (attach the logs as well, please)

It seems not to be inhibiting other updates - which is the good news.
The possibly bad news is that this means that it's a specific rather than a genreal problem, so it may take a lot more troubleshooting.

Please zip and upload your CBS and CheckSUR logs - and we'll see what we can find.
