    Build 7601 Copy not Genuine

Just purchased a Toshiba all-in-on desktop and have had about 2 months. Got the black screen today and the message Windows not genuine even though it has worked fine until today. I tried to re-enter the Product Code listed on the sticker in the back and still get the not genuine reply. I tried starting and stopping the Software Protection Service and got no difference. I ran the MGAD tool and here are the results:

I do find it interesting that the partial product code in this does not match the product code I pulled from the sticker on the back of the machine (and it came up as non-valid as well when I tried to add it). Any ideas for fixing this would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to do a complete reload of everything even though I did run the Toshiba system repair disks.

Everything looks right, there aaprt from the obvious fact that the license isn't properly activated.
This probably means that there is a problem with the Licensing Store.

Please first try recreating Licensing Store.

    Recreate the Licensing Store
    • Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
    • Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
    • Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

    net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

    CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
    net start sppsvc
    slui.exe

    • After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear.

    • You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

    • If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

Ran through the steps you gave. It is no longer showing Build error on lower right side of screen but it is still not showing my normal screen personalization. I am assuming I have to reset those. Here is the MGAD report after the reboot.

    The report looks fine now.

You will need to reset your background to its normal look manually - right-click on an empty area, and select Personalize
