It didn't get rid of Yontoo .
You can disable the toolbar in the Internet Options > Manage Add-ons area.
Here's a set of instructions on manual removal - I have no idea how good they are, but the source is usually reliable.

How do you know it's still there? It's not under Programs and Features anymore. .........

I don't know if there was a folder for it or not.

    Sorry - I thought I'd responded?
    Obviously not....
The Toolbar cleaner obviously worked pretty well :)

Do a manual check for updates:-
    CLick on the Start button
    in teh Search box, type
    Windows Update
    hit the Enter key
    Click on Check for Updates
    What happens/
What updates are waiting for install?

It's ok :) I took yesterday off. It gets old sitting here for hours trying one fix after the other.

My scan takes all day and night now becuz the computer sleeps. I never allowed it to go into sleep mode before. I kind of like it though as the loud pc humming shuts up. However, the pc sleeps and my scan is paused. I can't sit here all day and night. So it scans on and off. Gaw. It just got done (It stated at 2:13 am) It found another trojan. Is there a way to allow the program to run without going to sleep?

The guy from Microsoft took over my pc (how safe is THAT?!) and eventually hid the problem update. As if THAT method fixes anything at all. It's a security update so I'm worried. How worried should I *really* be? I had 17 updates that went well. I unhid the problem update and tried again just now and continue to get that error. I followed that link and I checked my registry folders and there is nothing in there for yontoo.

Have I told you this happened to me the last time I reformatted? There was a fix that worked though. It's not working this time around.

    Thanks.

Yesterday I updated before I read the forum. That's why I couldn't provide that info. Everything is up to date except the 1 update giving me a hard time. I checked again. 1 optional update was listed. That's it.

So the only update that isn't being downloaded and installed is KB947821 ??

Ignore it - right-click on it, and select Hide Update.

You have already run it :)

It will eventually clear itself (hopefully very soon).

You managed to download and install all yesterday's updates without a problem?
