W7 update download servers
Does Microsoft use non-Microsoft ip addresses for Update *downloads*?
Example: My machine will initiate an update check upon connection to the internet to MS ips like
Both hosts "www.update.microsoft.com."
Then connections to hosts from supposedly non-MS servers ips -- checked with arin.net or robtex
188.8.131.52 (Level 3 comm)
184.108.40.206 (NTT America)
220.127.116.11 (NTT America)
The last two ips are in an ip range (18.104.22.168-255) that seemed to deliver eTags and ad content that seemed to span across many sites while surfing -- this is what initially brought this to my attention.
Edit: the GET in the connections to download host is always :
192.168.xxx.xxx 22.214.171.124 HTTP 228 GET /v9/1/windowsupdate/redir/muv4wuredir.cab?1210060536 HTTP/1.1 49191 80 download.windowsupdate.com
Is this expected behavior?
