Windows Update - Could not search for new updates 0x800B0100

I have read lots of threads by people with the same problems, and sadly I need the same sort of fix. I have run the fix-it tool and the System Readiness fix to no avail. Examining the files listed in the checksur.log reveals they are empty, with binary zeros.

I have attached my checksur.log file for your viewing pleasure.

Many thanks in advance for any help rendered.

You have some major errors in the CheckSUR log.... I have a feeling I know what the root of the problem is, and an MGADiag report will confirm it...

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
    - **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Most report they are started, except for Windows Backup, and that is set to Manual.

System was built by myself, and has a full retail edition of Windows 7 Ultimate. Just for a bit more background, I moved from the UK to the US, this PC was shutdown on May 28th, and shipped to the US, finally arrived here on Oct 5th. When I shut it down, it was working fine, when I started it back up here, got this update error.

Hmmm - what I was expecting to see isn't there.
Many the errors in your report are for localised far-east language files (I was expecting to see that perhaps Vistalizator had been installed, despite Ultimate not needing it)
    There are
CSI Manifest All Zeros Total count: 14
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 24
CBS Catalog Corrupt Total count: 24
This shouldn't be too difficult to fix, with luck and a following wind - and a version of Ultimate handy :)

I'll ping our resident expert and see if he can help out - I don't have an Ultimate to hand - and certainly not with far-east languages installed!

Me... expert!? I wish This was a right pain to source as the Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.256 (the version you're missing files from) doesn't have a full installer, but I've got them now.

    Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

    1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
    2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
    3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
    4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
    5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

      C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

    6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

      C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

    7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
    8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

      C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

You will probably be shown the error code 0x8024200D after performing this fix, if so, please let me know :)
