    Windows Update repeated fails


    For about two months now Windows Update has been continually trying to install updates and failing. Here are the details on the latest update that failed:

    Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2732487)

    Installation date: ‎10/‎4/‎2012 7:34 AM

    Installation status: Failed

    Error details: Code 80071A90

    Update type: Recommended

    I tried the Windows Update one, but it did not resolve my issue. After the updates install, the computer restarts, and then says "Configuring Windows updates" and then "Failure configuring updates--reverting changes..."

    Edit: found this thread: "Failure configuring updates" message - advice please! and am going to try its advice.

    Edit 2: Following the advice from the thread above, I was able to install them by manually choosing to download and install them one-by-one. Hopefully this solved the problem permanently.
