Does anyone own a netbook? Netbooks have starter editions of windows by default.
we can change or say upgrade to the actual windows we use but what if at some time we want to change back to windows 7 starter??
Anyone knowing how to go back to the previous version of windows installed please explain.
You need to ensure that you maintain the Recovery Partition, or create (and preserve) the Recovery Media - you can then use that to reinstall the original OS.
Check your manual for details.
You may be able to purchase the Recovery media direct from the manufacturer
Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus K52F OS Win 7 x64 Home Premium (and x86 VirtualBox VM) CPU i3 370M Motherboard Asus Memory 8GB - finally :) Graphics Card it's an i3, dude! Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays 15.6" built-in Screen Resolution 1366x768
PSU n/a Hard Drives 750GB Seagate internal
Sundry external drives attached to other computers on the local network Internet Speed as much as I can get - usually on a dongle, so <1Mb/s Antivirus MSE Browser IE10/Chrome/FF(if I must)
If you were able to create a full system image backup of the Starter edition you could simply restore the image when going to replace the other Windows install. Most preinstalls on netbooks should see a recovery partition as well as utilty to create recovery media.
I have to agree with NoelDP about possibly contacting the manufacturer as well to see if they would send out a recovery media in some form for the Starter edition. That's one of the editions however included in gregrocker's guide on Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
If they do ship out a Starter edition dvd you wouldn't simply be able to pop the disk in and perform a clean install of that edition. You would need to create a USB Installation Key. USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create
If you haven't made any changes already the smart move now however would be creating a full system image of the netbook's drive to retain everything it comes with. You would need an external drive however or one in a usb enclosure to store the image on.
