Thank you Noel.
Navigate to 'Non-Plug and Play Drivers' is where/wheir I got lost. Just wondering how something like that would get turned off.

Dunno - it's not normally possible to turn the service off unless you either hack it manually or disable it the same way and reboot.

I just managed to successfully restore the servies to a arunning state with no error messages and no reboot - so there was also another problem with our OP's machine, if he got an error on the re-enablement.

I wonder if it's a hangover from a malware attack?

Found a little something.
Security Processor Loader Driver - Windows 7 Service - batcmd.com
---------------
Default Behavior

The Security Processor Loader Driver service is a kernel driver. If the Security Processor Loader Driver fails to load or initialize, the error is logged and the computer attempts to restart with the LastKnownGood configuration. If the LastKnownGood configuration fails, Windows 7 startup also fails, and the boot process halts with a Stop error. If you disable this service, Windows 7 will fail to start. Do NOT change this service startup configuration if your computer is working
--------------
The OP's computer started and was able to run the things you requested.
Does smell infected. Post #5 shows a problem with Security Process Loader and yet the computer still started. 2 and 2 doesn't always add up to 4 like I thought.

Very interesting!
...and another alternative method to repair the problem (actually more suited for use in forums, since by the time that's needed, the user should be able to cope with a simple SC command in an ECP).

Thanks!
